Make a pink whipped sugar scrub

Learn to make a whipped sugar sugar scrub

Today I have an exciting formula for you. I have to say I am a bit embarrassed because this formulation is long overdue. I had a lovely chat with a group member about this product, and I promised I'd publish a post on it. It was last year! Ugh. My apologies for the delay.

The product has SCI ( Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate) powder and it allows the scrub to hold its whipped shape. Also, it is a gentle surfactant especially if you compare it with other powdered surfactants. I paired it with Cocamidopropyl betaine and Decyl glucoside, both of which are surfactants, to keep it gentle and provide good foaming power.

It also contains a high amount of glycerine, but don't let that scare you. It is a wash-off product and your skin will be OK with it.

I wanted some emollients in the scrub so I added some superfatting agents ( these are modified lipids). You can add simple carrier oils if you want, but for me, Lamesoft PO65 works very well.

I know you will want to know where the gorgeous pink comes from, so I’ll tell you. I found a Purple Sweet Potato powder on Amazon. It is a food-grade ingredient, but that never stops me from trying :). ( Link below)

I think this product is best to be made in bigger batches. I made a version using Kitchen Aid for whipping and another with a simple mixer. I think the Kitchen Aid did a better job, the scrub is fluffier and softer a bit. It really comes down to what equipment you have for this.

I hope you will like this formula. If you have any further questions, please come and talk to me in the Private Facebook group.
